A new business has been launched in the North East that aims to help tourists with campervans find legal places to stay overnight.
Grace Fell, from Northumberland, spent last summer travelling around Scotland with her parents in their Iveco campervan, taking advantage of the Scots鈥 wild camping regulations.
The regulations, which allow people to park up in most parts of the country, are are not currently available in England, so the Wild With Consent website was set up to connect campervan owners with landowners who are happy to let them park up on their properties.
Ms Fell said: 鈥淗aving grown up in Northumberland I know such places exist, as we are fortunate to have friends with some beautiful property.鈥
The website aims to help campervanners who want to stay off-grid to connect with farmers and landowners looking to tap into Northumberland鈥檚 burgeoning tourist opportunities.
Sites are only offered to those travelling in self-contained campervans and are only available to one campervan per night to maintain privacy. Campers are required to adhere to wild camping guidelines to maintain the ethos of 鈥榣eave no trace鈥.
The business is hoping to tap into an expected surge in domestic 鈥榮taycations鈥 as foreign travel is limited by various coronavirus lockdowns. It hopes to encourage people to explore and enjoy the British countryside responsibly
The company鈥檚 website says: 鈥淲ild With Consent gives guests the opportunity to stay in those wild, secluded places with full landowner consent, rather than parking cheek-by-jowl with other tourists.
鈥淲e only offer these sites to those travelling in self-contained campervans who are on the hunt for a unique adventure.
鈥淚t seems like a crazy idea to set up a travel business in the middle of a pandemic. But we believe that exploring beautiful Britain, in an exclusive way, is only going to get more popular in the post-pandemic era, once people have realised the majesty which lies on their doorstep.鈥
Domestic tourism businesses are hoping for a bumper summer as restrictions on foreign travel and rising prices combine to put foreign holidays out of reach for many families.
A recent poll found that more than half (53%) of people in the 海角视频 are planning some form of getaway in this country.
