A new managing director has been appointed at a leading Northern waste management firm.

Ian Morrish has joined Wastewise, taking over the role from business owner James Landau, who becomes executive chairman.

The East Yorkshire-headquartered company operates across the white rose county as well as in Lancashire, Cheshire and Lincolnshire.

It has picked up more than £7 million worth of local authority contracts in the past year, opening up new facilities to serve the expansion.

Mr Landau said: “Ian will play an instrumental role in the next phase of our growth strategy and brings a vast amount of experience to help develop and strengthen our position in the sector. We are delighted to welcome him as part of our team.”

He will be based at the company’s head office in Willerby, near Hull, and will be responsible for the strategy, planning and management of the business.

Wastewise continues to seek opportunities to develop new partnerships and broaden its waste-processing infrastructure, which includes food and green waste composting, materials recycling, biomass and alternative fuel production facilities.

Mr Morrish arrives with an extensive background in the waste industry, with over 30 years’ experience and an in-depth knowledge of food and green waste composting, anaerobic digestion, waste to energy and landfill operations.
