New jobs created in Staffordshire as part of Amazon's national recruitment drive

Around 70 permanent jobs and 900 temporary positions are being created in the county

Online retail giant Amazon is creating 70 new jobs in Stoke-on-Trent as part of national expansion plans which will see it recruit more than 10,000 permanent employees this year.

Amazon has already created 3,000 new permanent roles across its network of fulfilment centres, sort centres and delivery stations this year.

Now it is looking to take on a further 7,000 employees across more than 50 sites in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ by the end of 2020.

This includes 70 new permanent staff at Amazon's Stoke-on-Trent delivery station at Trentham Lakes - almost doubling its current 150-strong workforce.

The company is also looking to create in excess of 900 seasonal jobs in Staffordshire - with more than 100 positions in Stoke-on-Trent and a further 800 at its Rugeley fulfilment centre.

Amazon's recruitment drive will take the company's permanent º£½ÇÊÓÆµ workforce to more than 40,000.

The new roles will include engineers, graduates, HR and IT professionals, health and safety and finance specialists, as well as the teams who will pick, pack and ship customer orders.

Pay starts at a minimum of £10.50 an hour in the London area and £9.50 an hour in other parts of the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ for all full-time, part-time, temporary and seasonal roles.
