A construction firm in Aberystwyth has growth on its radar following a six-figure investment. LEB Construction plans to expand its operations with a new headquarters at the town’s Glanyrafon Industrial Estate after receiving a £537,336 investment from the Welsh Government’s Property Development Grant.

The funding will allow the company to grow its operations at the site after outgrowing its existing premises. It will develop a new two-storey 5,898 sq ft modern office space, with new IT infrastructure, tool stores, a large workshop and large builder’s yard to support its growth plans.

The mid-Wales firm specialises in delivering complex remodelling, refurbishment and new build projects. Its recent projects include the £2.73m refurbishment, extensions and alterations at Ysgol Gynradd Aberteifi, a £1.1m redevelopment of Lampeter Leisure Centre into Ceredigion’s wellbeing hub, and a £1.8m development of the new Post Room for the National Library of Wales.

It currently employs 14 full time staff and supports 70 sub-contractors in the region as well as relies on a local supply chain of over 80 companies.

Following the investment, the firm said it will have the space needed to undertake new operations and meet its ambition to tender for larger contracts.

Managing director Luke Baker said: “We are delighted to have received grant funding from the Welsh Government to support our development ambitions for our new HQ based at Glanyrafon Industrial Estate, the development will see us create modern office space equipped with the latest IT systems, break out areas, training and meeting room, a welcoming reception area, tool stores, a large workshop and a large builder’s yard.

“We have plans in the future to create our own Construction Academy that will give our apprentices a strong start to their careers in construction and ensure LEB has a skilled and highly qualified workforce in future years.
