A Gateshead tech firm that uses virtual reality, games and quizzes to train staff has won a substantial contract with global software firm Sage.

SUB 10 has been selected to design and deliver a new training programme that will be rolled out to Sage’s 13,000 employees around the world.

Under the deal SUB 10 - which was only established six months ago - will create an e-learning programme and a new code of conduct for the tech giant. The programme will be delivered in six languages and will be completed by November this year, but could be extended for a further six modules into 2020.

SUB 10 is based at Gateshead’s Proto facility, which provides small tech firms access to cutting edge equipment allowing it to compete with larger companies.

The business was founded by Peter Stephenson and Angela Ross who spotted a gap in the market to make corporate training more accessible and informal.

The duo decided to set up SUB 10 to offer clients access to 10-minutes or less digital learning modules that can be completed using games, quizzes and virtual and augmented reality devices.

Ms Ross said: “Sage is a market leader and significant business in the North East and we are beyond delighted to have been chosen to partner with them in designing, creating and delivering their Code of Conduct, being chosen ahead of some of the biggest players in the field of e-learning.

“While we may have only been in business for a few months, we are grateful to Sage for realising the value of our proposition and the potential our new approach to corporate training can have for a multi-national organisation like theirs. We are so excited to be given the opportunity to create this bespoke and accessible training programme for their 13,000 employees and can’t wait to get started.”
