More than 1,500 North East jobs created by growing companies in March

Major employers including Malhotra Group, Home Group and Pearson Engineering were among firms announcing new jobs

At least 1,500 new jobs have been announced in the North East this month, with major employers leading the recruitment drives.

Leisure, care and property business Malhotra Group announced plans to create 200 new jobs after securing a £23m finance package.

The Newcastle based business, which owns the Three Mile in Gosforth and city centre venues Grey Street Hotel, Leila Lily’s, obtained the funding package from HSBC º£½ÇÊÓÆµ, which will help it move forward projects including the regeneration of the former Sandpiper pub in Cullercoats, the Market Lane pub in Newcastle, and the New Northumbria Hotel in Jesmond.

North East housing organisation Home Group also announced a large recruitment drive to create around 300 new jobs, as it expands its work in healthcare.

The Newcastle based company, one of the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ’s largest providers of housing, health and care, announced the drive to find new staff in roles including, housing support, maintenance, IT and customer service. The jobs include almost 150 people needed to support the growth of its healthcare and supported living provision in the region.

Middlesbrough-based Press On Vinyl is capitalising on the growth in popularity of vinyl records, by creating 46 jobs at its new pressing plant at the Tees-Advance Manufacturing Park (TeesAMP).
