Derby County is said to be looking for new talks with other interested parties after the planned takeover by Bin Zayed International looked like it has fallen through.

DerbyshireLive is reporting that owner and chairman Mel Morris will have to go back to the drawing board after it appeared that negotiations with BZI had ended.

Reports last week had pointed to a potential resolution this week over whether the deal would go ahead or not.

Four months have passed since Derby announced on November 6 they had agreed a deal in principle with Derventio Holdings, a company set up by Sheikh Khaled’s Bin Zayed International, and the takeover was approved by the English Football League.

Deadlines came and went but the deal was not closed.

One of the other interested parties is believed to be Spanish businessman Erik Alonso, who owns the management company WBD Sports and is said to be attempting to buy the club on behalf of his company No Limits Sports LTD.

According to the Daily Telegraph, people at the Championship club are “furious” over what has happened.

It reported that Mr Morris had told BZI it had until Monday to deliver the necessary funds, but the money had not arrived.
