Manchester United remain in the red despite lifting of Covid-19 restrictions helping revenue rise

Commercial revenue increased from £58.1m to £65.6m but broadcasting revenue fell from £58.6m to £51.5m

Manchester United remained in the red during the first three months of 2022 despite a rise in revenue, new figures have confirmed.

The club's operating losses totalled £21.8m for their third quarter, the three months to March 2022, compared to losses of £21.6m for the same period in 2021.

However, United's total revenue increased from £1.6m to £35.7m because of the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions.

Chief executive Richard Arnold said: "It has clearly been a disappointing season for the men’s first team.

"Work is well underway to address this, led by our football director, John Murtough and our new manager, Erik ten Hag.

"Resilience and high standards are core values for Manchester United, and we are determined to achieve better results next season and beyond.
