º£½ÇÊÓÆµ Lake District hotel Armathwaite Hall bounces back with record results

º£½ÇÊÓÆµ Lake District hotel Armathwaite Hall has achieved record results as it bounced back from the Covid-19 pandemic, it has been revealed.

The hotel, which is located in Bassenthwaite, has posted a turnover of £7m for the 12 months to March 31, 2022, up from the £2.7m it reported in the prior year.

Its pre-tax profits also jumped from £523,479 to £2.2m over the same period.

Hospitality turnover jumped from £1.9m to £5m in the year while spa sales increased from £187,163 to £813,449. Sales from the wildlife park it runs also grew from £678,769 to £1.1m.

During the year, the hotel received £58,705 through the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme and £50,667 through other government grants.

In the last year not affected by the pandemic, the 12 months to March 31, 2019, the hotel posted a turnover of £5.3m and pre-tax profits of £102,240.

A statement signed off by the board said: "The reduced impact of Covid-19 has meant that [the] company has performed better than the previous year, as last year there was a total period of seven months of no activity.
