The long-serving finance chief at Lancashire Cricket is to step down later this year after more than 16 years at the Emirates Old Trafford club.

Finance director Lee Morgan, who has also previously served as operations director, will hand over his duties but remain as club secretary at the same time as supporting Lancashire Cricket in other areas.

In his operations role, Mr Morgan was a key figure in the regeneration and redevelopment of Emirates Old Trafford after the loss of Test cricket in 2009 and helped turn the stadium into a sustainable and profitable venue.

The club has said he was a central figure to the construction of The Point, Players and Media Centre, B and C stands and the first stages of the new Pavilion.

At the same time, in his finance role, he was heavily involved in securing various elements of funding over a number of years for all stages of the redevelopment of the stadium.

Mr Morgan, who had previously worked as a qualified chartered accountant and auditor with Deloitte, more recently helped the club to secure a significant refinancing package with Metro Bank.

That agreement was a multi-million pound refinancing package that saw multiple lenders consolidated into one which reduced the club’s current annual interest burden and align its debt repayment profile with its long-term business plan.

An announcement on who will succeed Mr Morgan will "follow in due course", the club added.
