A Liverpool firm that designed famous city venues has finished its "incredible year" with a flurry of nominations at the Northern Design Awards.
R2 Architecture, which is responsible for works including Seel Street's Alma De Cuba, Mowgli on Bold Street through to more recent additions such as Leaf on Smithdown, Papillon on Hope Street and the extension of Delifonseca Dockside at Brunswick Quay, is up for Best Interior Design Practice, Best Bar and Interior Design Product.
The ceremony will take place later this week, and Richard Eastwood, director of the firm, said: “We are really excited to be recognised by the awards for our work.
"It is especially humbling to be nominated for Interior Design Practice as this recognises a company’s body of work that has built up over the years.
"None of this would have been possible without having the amazing clients we’ve been blessed to work with.”
The Best Bar nomination is for Mason’s All Day Kitchen on Seel Street - part of the growing EPIC Hotel portfolio.

It’s the only restaurant-bar in Liverpool to be recognised and the venue, which adjoins EPIC’s Seel Street Hotel, opened in July, and uses contemporary colours and bespoke furniture.
Simon Beer, Managing Director of EPIC, said: “We’re delighted that Mason’s Restaurant Bar has been recognised for its amazing interior it is a stunning venue and we're honoured to be the only restaurant in Liverpool that has been shortlisted in these prestigious awards."

The Interior Design Project nomination is for Cricket in the Metquarter.
After 28 years in the same unit at Cavern Walks, the venue approached R2 Architecture to design their first purpose-designed unit.
The shop - claiming to be one of Europe's leading independent luxury fashion retailers - worked with Cricket founder Justine Mills to create a high-concept interior that "maintained the brands core values but moved the retailer forward into the future".
Ms Mills said: "It's a new chapter in the history of Cricket. It's a big move because we've been at Cavern Walks for 28 years. We're really pleased with the outcome of the new shop and I'm really excited about what the future holds.”
