Edinburgh-based paid advertising agency Yatter has been snapped up by Liverpool e-commerce specialist Velstar, just three years after its launch. Since its inception in 2021, Yatter has seen consistent growth and now manages over £10m in annual client ad spend.

With a portfolio of more than 60 clients, including names like Loch Lomond Group and Countrywide, Yatter employs a dozen staff in Edinburgh. The acquisition makes it Scotland's sole Shopify Plus partner agency.

The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Yatter's founder and CEO Gavin Bell, 30, said: "It's been a rewarding journey since setting up in 2021 - we set out to be the best paid advertising agency in Scotland and believe that has been achieved.

"Velstar have emphasised they acquired us for a reason; that we have the skills and people they need in their business."

"Myself and business partner Dave McCall look forward to working closely with Velstar over the coming year to ensure a seamless integration that enhances our client offering and drives even greater results."

Velstar, established by Dan Sheard in 2016, boasts a £6m turnover this year and is on track to surpass £10m in annual revenues by 2024, reports .

Velstar's purchase of Yatter will give the business its irst base in Scotland. This acquisition comes on the heels of previous deals for 9XB in Leeds in August 2024, WeTeachCRO in Surrey in March last year, and We Influence in Chester in 2022.

Velstar's chief executive, Peter Birks, said: “This is a positive move for the Velstar group as we continue to expand our services and grow our team and expertise. With our building strategic plans for 2025, I am confident there are exciting and rewarding times ahead for our customers and colleagues.

London-based consultancy Cactus advised Yatter throughout the acquisition process.
