Liverpool city centre zip wire plan from adventure brand Zip World

The company wants to 'fly' thrill seekers from St John's Beacon to the historic Liverpool Central Library

Adventure firm Zip World wants to develop a zip line in Liverpool city centre.

The North Wales brand wants to 'fly' thrill seekers from the top of the 140metre high St John's Beacon to the historic Liverpool Central Library.

It would be the company’s first zip line outside of Wales, and the first permanent city zip in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ.

The line would be a major attraction for Liverpool and further raise the profile of - which already has the world's fastest zip line at its site at Penrhyn Quarry , Gwynedd.

Zip World wants to create a permanent zip line from the top of St John's Beacon to Liverpool Central Library

Planning documents are being submitted with Liverpool City Council with the hope it would open in 2021.

Under the plan, two riders would be dispatched at a time in a sit-down style harness, travelling across the cityscape.

Zip World president and co-founder Sean Taylor said: "There has always been a close relationship between Liverpool and North Wales, and the city is often referred to as 'the Gateway to North Wales'.  

"There's no better location for us to start expansion outside of Wales.
