A company backed by new Dragons' Den star and Social Chain co-founder Steven Bartlett has listed on a US stock exchange.

Atai Life Sciences, which is headquartered in Berlin, Germany, has completed its Nasdaq IPO.

The company is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical firm aiming to transform the treatment of mental health disorders.

The IPO is expected to have raised proceeds of $225m.

In a series of tweets, Mr Bartlett said: "Today, the most important company I’ve ever encountered, worked on and invested in, goes public.

"Atai life sciences is using psychedelic & non-psychedelic treatments to heal mental health disorders so that everyone, everywhere, can live a more fulfilled life.

"I joined the company as a Series C investor and then become creative director shortly after.

"I can honestly say that if any company is to effectively tackle the global mental health crisis, it is Atai.
