Business leaders, firms and celebrities who have worked to promote equality and the advancement of LGBT+ rights are to be honoured at a glittering awards ceremony later this year.

The British LGBT+ Awards has released its shortlist for this year's event, with nominees spanning from global corporations like Coca Cola and Google to pop stars Sam Smith and Ariana Grande to actors such as Patrick Stewart and Jodie Comer.

The awards, held in partnership with founding partner NatWest, will acknowledge milestones in politics, media, grassroots activism and the corporate world in an event dubbed Britain's 'Gay Oscars'.

It's in its sixth year and the ceremony will take place in London on May 29.

Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards of Little Mix, who were honoured at last year's LGBT+ Awards

Commenting on the shortlist, awards co-founder Sarah Garrett MBE, said: “A really exciting mix of some of the world’s most deserving LGBT+ people, allies and organisations have been nominated this year. These awards shine a light on those who stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the LGBT+ community during uncertain and challenging times.

"The nominees are all role models who have demonstrated an ongoing commitment to raising awareness of, or advancing, LGBT+ rights.

"The 2020 ceremony, on 29 May, is going to be the British LGBT Awards biggest event yet.”

Amazon, Just Eat, KPMG and Sky º£½ÇÊÓƵ are amongst those shortlisted for the Inclusive Employer or Company of the Year Award.
