Business leaders, firms and celebrities who have worked to promote equality and the advancement of LGBT+ rights are to be honoured at a glittering awards ceremony later this year.

The British LGBT+ Awards has released its shortlist for this year's event, with nominees spanning from global corporations like Coca Cola and Google to pop stars Sam Smith and Ariana Grande to actors such as Patrick Stewart and Jodie Comer.

The awards, held in partnership with听founding partner NatWest, will acknowledge milestones in politics, media, grassroots activism and the corporate world in an event dubbed Britain's 'Gay Oscars'.

It's in its sixth year and the ceremony will take place in London on May 29.

Commenting on the shortlist, awards co-founder Sarah Garrett MBE, said: 鈥淎 really exciting mix of some of the world鈥檚 most deserving LGBT+ people, allies and organisations have been nominated this year. These awards shine a light on those who stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the LGBT+ community during uncertain and challenging times.

"The nominees are all role models who have demonstrated an ongoing commitment to raising awareness of, or advancing, LGBT+ rights.

"The 2020 ceremony, on 29 May, is going to be the British LGBT Awards biggest event yet.鈥�

Amazon, Just Eat, KPMG and Sky 海角视频 are amongst those shortlisted for the Inclusive Employer or Company of the Year Award.

Claire England of JLL, John Bernard of Aviva and Susan Allen of Santander are shortlisted for the 鈥楥orporate Ally of the Year鈥� award.

Other leading business names nominated for awards include HSBC and Nestl茅.

The British LGBT Awards also celebrate some of the world's听best known LGBT+ celebrities and allies.听

Sam Smith, Ariana Grande, Sir Patrick Stewart and Naomi Campbell are all nominated. Sir Elton John is expected to be presented with a special recognition award for his work to help those affected by AIDS through his charity, the Elton John AIDS Foundation.听
