The boss of a Leicester branded promotional products firm is donating tens of thousands of thermometers to help with the fight against coronavirus.

Paul Rowlett, founder of Everything Branded, is donating 20,000 strip thermometers to organisations and individuals.

It follows reports of increased calls to the NHS 111 helpline, and price gouging and stock shortages hindering people's access to self-diagnostic equipment.

Everything Branded contacted its supplier to order the strip thermometers and posted social media messages, urging those in need to get in touch.

The products are being donated and delivered for free on a first-come, first-served basis.

Organisations which have benefited so far include the Royal College of Nursing, Kingsthorpe College and Inspire Youth Zone.

The NHS has said that a high temperature of 38 degrees or above could be a sign of Covid-19, and urges anyone with this symptom or a new, continuous cough to stay home and use the NHS 111 helpline.

Mr Rowlett, who last summer appeared on Channel 4’s undercover show The Secret Teacher, said: "We have donated head thermometers in an effort to help people with self-diagnosis, especially in settings where social distancing is more difficult.
