Browne Jacobson:
Law firm Browne Jacobson has appointed General Counsel Anneliese Reinhold (pctured above) as the first non-executive chair of its corporate sectoral strategy board, the first of several sector-driven appointments.

Working closely with partner Declan Cushley who leads the firm’s corporate sector market group, Anneliese will bring strategic commercial, regulatory, legal and governance expertise to support the firm and its lawyers in driving the firm’s corporate sector strategy.
Anneliese, who qualified as a corporate lawyer in Australia in 1989, has worked with a diverse client base that includes start-ups, high growth businesses, large global listed and non-listed companies, spanning across Europe, the Middle East, USA and Australasia both as a General Counsel and a City law firm Partner.
She is the former chairman of the global board of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), the world’s largest in-house counsel organization (with 45,000 members in 85 countries). Until August this year she was the most senior female executive of leading multi-billion turnover telecoms operator du. She is a founding investor and member of the investment committee at specialist tech ‘Micro-VC’, Dubai Angel Investors and is also a member of council for the Institute of Directors (IOD).
East Midlands Chamber:
One of the region’s most prominent business leaders is helping to bridge the gap between employers and prisoners after being appointed to a key position.

East Midlands Chamber chief executive Scott Knowles is now chair of the newly-formed employment advisory board at HMP Sudbury Prison, in Derbyshire.
The 12-person board helps to develop work and training opportunities for prisoners, establish partnerships with local businesses, and invest in projects that will support their progression into long-term employment once they return to the community.
The chamber’s director of resources Lucy Robinson is vice-chair of the board, which also includes business leaders from organisations including Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce, Blueprint Interiors, Cosy Direct, DPI 海角视频, New Futures Network, PPL PRS, Qinesis and The Alternative Board.
Scott said: “It’s a great privilege to be asked to lead the new employment advisory board, which has a crucial role to play both for society and businesses.
“We want to ensure prison leavers are given the tools they need to re-enter the community and make a meaningful contribution via a long-term job.”

The Nottingham office of top 150 law firm Roythornes Solicitors has welcomed a new senior associate to boost its family team.

Layla Babadi has joined the firm bringing years of specialist experience working on family law issues including divorce, separation and issues involving children following the breakdown of a marriage.
Having previously worked for Nelsons for several years, Layla has built up a large client base in Derby and is looking forward to a new challenge in her current home city of Nottingham.
She has a particular expertise in handling issues within the Asian community, international divorces, Islamic marriages, and dowry advice.
Layla said: “Over the years I have developed an interest in international law, specifically dealing with marriages abroad, asset management and how complex divorces are dealt with in the 海角视频.
“I tend to deal with larger high net worth cases but as the majority of my work comes from personal referrals, I am always able to offer support to the people who seek me out because I want to ensure everyone gets the best advice possible.”
Ashgates:
Staff in the tax department of Ashgates accountancy firm took on a taxing task of their own by tackling the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.
Colleagues from the Pride Park office swapped their spreadsheets for windcheaters when they scaled three of the largest peaks in Yorkshire in just 12 hours to raise money for local charity, Sam’s Superheroes.
The six number crunchers clocked up more than 24 miles on foot, scaling 1585m, or 5200ft, to complete the epic challenge to climb Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.
Their efforts have so far raised £1,150 for the charity, which was set up in memory of Sam Liew, who was just five years old when he died, after developing a rare syndrome which effects one in a million people.
Febrile Infection Related Epilepsy Syndrome (F.I.R.E.S.) strikes out of the blue in previously healthy people, and the outcome of the condition is usually catastrophic. Whilst the cause is largely unknown, it is thought to be an exceptionally rare reaction to a common virus.
Today Sam’s Superheroes funds and carries out emotional, well-being and therapeutic activities based around kindness and Sam’s love of animals, crafting, outdoors, music and nature.
Not only did the epic climb raise money for the charity, the challenge also benefited the staff taking part, who returned to work with aching legs but united as a stronger team.
Hannah Sharpe, head of HR at Ashgates, said: “Sam’s mum Rachel came into work, with Sam’s therapy dog Daisy, and gave a really inspiring talk about everything he went through and the work she has carried out in his name.
“So many people came to me afterwards to say they wanted to do something to support the charity - it really moved and motivated everyone.
“The tax department came up with the idea for the Three Peak Challenge and they definitely bonded during the process.”
David Wilson Homes:
A senior site manager for David Wilson Homes East Midlands has taken a look back on his career full of industry honours after going part-time ahead of his retirement.
Henry Patecki first joined the Coalville-based housebuilder in October 1997 and, 25 years down the line, is now preparing to bid farewell to the industry he’s achieved so much success in after taking on a part-time role with his long-standing employer.
During his time at David Wilson Homes, he’s won 20 Pride in the Job Quality awards from the National House Building Council (NHBC), nine Seals of Excellence, four Regional accolades, a Supreme Award and Lifetime Achievement recognition. He was also runner-up in the Supreme Awards in 2021.
Henry was most recently based at David Wilson Homes’ Wigston Meadows development in Wigston, but will soon be able to enjoy his retirement having become one of the very best in the business.
Duncan and Toplis:
Alison Smith, Chris Wright, Amy Codd, Daniel Smithson, Rachel Rudkin and Mark Foster have all been appointed as directors, while Vanessa McConnell and Chris Bradford have been promoted as associates at Midlands accountants and business advisors Duncan & Toplis.

Clean Air Power:
Leicestershire-based sustainability specialist Clean Air Power has appointed Steve Sapsford as an advisor.
Steve is a technology engineering specialist with over 35 years propulsion system experience and a strong background in combustion engines.
He is an industrial advisor at Nottingham University and a member of the Industrial Advisory Board at the University of Cardiff. Steve is also chair of the Powertrain Systems and Fuels Group, and a Fellow at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
Clean Air Power is helping deliver the transition from fossil fuels to decarbonised transport with net zero emissions. Founded in 1991, the company provides technology and systems that improve performance and reduce the impact of public and private transport on the environment. Its clients include Volvo, DHL and Mercedes.
Steve said: “I am passionate about decarbonising transport and firmly believe we need to be exploiting all opportunities, ranging from electrification to the use of sustainable fuels in all their forms.”
William Davis:
Twelve new trainees have joined William Davis Homes’ award-winning apprenticeship scheme which is helping to counter skills shortages in the construction industry.
The latest recruits include joiners, scaffolders, bricklayers, electricians and plumbers – bringing the total number of apprentices at the Leicestershire-based firm to 40.
Over the years the company’s long-standing scheme has helped hundreds of entrants to launch their careers in housebuilding, creating precious opportunities for young people.
According to the Construction Industry Training Board, there has been a sharp drop in the number of college leavers entering the sector. However, the story is different for William Davis Homes who have had a record number of applications for their scheme this year.
Gary Long, William Davis Homes apprenticeship manager, said: “Despite a skills shortage in the industry, we had a record 280 applicants this year which is very encouraging and further cements our reputation as a local employer of choice. Getting onto the scheme is a real achievement.”
Nelsons:
Nelsons has promoted three employees within its wills and probate, clinical negligence and corporate departments.
Nadia Faki has been promoted to partner, while Ziaur Rahman and Danielle Young have been promoted to legal director.
Between them, they have worked at Nelsons for nearly 50 years.
Wills and probate specialist Nadia, who qualified as a solicitor in 2009, joined Nelsons as an associate in 2017 before progressing to legal director and now partner.
She said: “I joined Nelsons as I firmly believed it would provide me with the opportunity to progress and take my career to a new level. Five years later, I’m thrilled to have been promoted to partner and can’t wait to continue to build our team and professional network.”
Marrons Planning:
Marrons Planning has expanded and bolstered its socio-economics service with the appointment of housing need research specialist Dan Usher.
Dan joins the team as economics director after more than 11 years at Barton Willmore, now Stantec, where he worked his way up from senior planner to development economics associate.
Prior to this, Dan spent six years as a planning officer in numerous local authorities in Sussex. He also worked as an urban planning officer in Dubai during an eight-month secondment with developer Nakheel.
Working across all housing sectors – including later living, student accommodation, affordable and general market housing – in his new role, Dan will be utilising demographic evidence to add value to client developments nationwide across all different local authority levels.
