The next stage of the lockdown easing roadmap is on track for April 12 - here are key events coming up

Shops are set to re-open on April 12 in England's lockdown easing plans.

The next major change in the lockdown easing road map starts on April 12 with the return of non-essential shops re-opening and pubs welcoming customers outdoors.

There is still a ban on foreign travel, but travel within England is set to allow overnight stays from April 12.

There are a number of key dates between now and October which will set out the rest of the path out of lockdown, reports .

These are all the key dates to note, with the next rounds of rule changes and announcements.

April 12: Step Two

Non-essential shops, personal care premises such as hairdressers and nail salons, and public buildings such as libraries will reopen.

Most outdoor attractions and settings can also reopen including pubs and restaurants and cafes, zoos and theme parks. But only the outdoor areas such as beer gardens and terraces. It’ll be table service only but takeaway pints are also allowed.

Wider social contact rules will apply in all these settings. You won’t be able to have indoor mixing between households. So in hairdresser or a library for example, you can only go with members of your own household.

Indoor leisure - gyms, spas and swimming pools - will also reopen but once again, only for people going on their own or with their own household. Saunas and steam rooms cannot open at this stage.
