The future of a Derby garage business and its workforce have been secured after the company was sold out of administration.

Elite Auto Centres (Derby), which provide MOTs, servicing and repairs for a range of vehicles from its premises at Sinfin Commercial Park, called in joint administrators Dean Nelson and Nick Lee from Smith Cooper on Tuesday.

They were appointed after the business found itself operating in an “unsustainable manner”.

Mr Nelson and Mr Lee were asked to “accelerate” a sales process to secure its future. Now, the Sinfin Lane business, along with its assets, have been snapped up by a company called Elite MOT Station Limited.

The pre-pack deal saves four jobs at the business, which offers a wide range of vehicle repairs and is a DVSA approved MOT test station with capacity to MOT cars, minibuses and vans.

Mathew Lowe, a director at Elite MOT Station, said: “I’m delighted to be completing the deal. The previous owners of Elite Auto Centres have established a reputable business that offers a one-stop shop for repair and maintenance requirements in a prime location in Derby. I’m looking forward to enhancing our offering even further.”

Mr Nelson, head of the business recovery and insolvency at Smith Cooper, said: “We’re delighted to have secured the successful sale, and I am optimistic about the future of Elite Auto Centres.

“I’m confident that Mathew’s extensive experience in the automotive sector will assure the businesses future going forward, and that customers will continue to receive reliable, quality services that they have become accustomed too, delivered with integrity and affordability. We wish him and his team the best of luck.”
