"How can we make our town a better place?" - civic leaders to make case for £25m cash injection

Council bosses and business leaders are hoping to land millions and want to know what to do with it

Leicester City's £100m training ground being built near Loughborough is an example of the county's vision

People in Loughborough are being asked what would make it a better place with the chance of millions of pounds Government cash heading to the town.

Council bosses and business leaders are looking to land £25 million from Westminster as one of 100 towns invited to apply for a Town Deal.

Specific details are scarce at the moment but the rough aim is to regenerate places, boost businesses, and improve infrastructure and connectivity.

A Loughborough Town Deal Board has been set up to oversee the bid to the project.

Its members will now be asked what they should to be considering as part of their bid.

Charnwood Borough Council leader Jonathan Morgan is the co-chairman of the board.

He said: “The Town Deal is a huge opportunity for Loughborough and it is essential that we come together as a community to put together an outstanding business case to secure every penny of the £25 million on offer.
