A Carlisle-headquartered agricultural and engineering group, which was founded in 1831, is eyeing future growth after reporting its results for the first half of its current financial year.

Carr's Group has posted a statutory revenue of £201.4m for the six months to February 27, 2021, up from the £200m it achieved during the same period in 2020.

The listed company's operating profit dipped from £11.2m to £10.7m while its pre-tax profit went from £10.5m to £10.2m.

In a statement issued to the London Stock Exchange, the group said it had a "resilient business model despite Covid-19 and Brexit uncertainty"

Chief executive Hugh Pelham said: "Despite a challenging operational environment with significant headwinds experienced in engineering we have delivered an improved performance compared to the same period last year.

"Our speciality agriculture and agricultural supplies divisions have performed particularly strongly.

"The outlook for engineering is for an improved performance in the second half of the financial year.

"I have been fortunate to inherit some sound foundations from my predecessor, Tim Davies.
