Green light for 80-acre solar panel farm

Novus Renewable Services is leading the scheme in Warwickshire which could power more than 7,000 homes

Plans for a new 80-acre solar panel farm in Warwickshire have been approved.

Novus Renewable Services, which specialises in solar development, has been granted permission by Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council to develop, construct and operate the project at Tolldish Hall Farm, north of Aldermans Green.

The local plan states that 14,000 new houses will be needed within the area between by 2039.

The new solar farm will generate 25MW of electricity which will be fed back to the grid and is said to be sufficient to power just over 7,000 homes.

The site has been designed after considering issues such as grid availability, heritage, landscape, ecology, access and land quality.

Land development and property consultancy Mather Jamie worked on the project to secure planning permission.

Head of sustainable energy Hamish Byers said: "There is significant growth in the renewable energy market and planning committees seem to be supportive of projects.
