Wiltshire-based green energy company Good Energy has appointed its chief operating officer to its board. Françoise Woodward, who has worked at the Chippenham-headquartered company for nearly a decade, took up her role as director on Friday (October 20).

Ms Woodward joined AIM-listed Good Energy in 2014 and will be responsible for sales and energy origination, marketing, customer operations and the people and culture functions.

The executive has previously worked for major corporates including Marks & Spencer, Coca-Cola, Dyson and EDF. She is also a chartered member of the Institute of Personnel and Development and a councillor for the CBI South West Regional Council.

Nigel Pocklington, chief executive of Good Energy, said Ms Woodward had been a “critical strategic partner” since he had joined the business in 2021. He said: “[Her] leadership, experience and critical thinking I know I can rely on. I believe she will play a similarly vital role on the Good Energy group board."

Will Whitehorn, chair of Good Energy, said: "Her knowledge of the company is unparalleled. She has played a vital role in helping drive the company's strategy as well as its positive working culture, making her a very welcome addition to the board."

Ms Woodward added: “I am proud to play my part in our strategy as we integrate solar, storage, heat pump and other carbon and cost-reducing services into the offer for our generators and customers."

Ms Woodward currently holds no shares.

In September, Good Energy saw revenue and profits jump as rising wholesale costs led to price rises. The business said profit after tax for the period had risen to £12m from £300,000 a year earlier.
