A well-known lawyer on the Leicester legal scene has sold her business.
Glynis Wright has sold family solicitors and mediators Glynis Wright & Co to East Midlands regional firm Nelsons.
She will join Nelsons’ Leicester office as a partner and head up the family law team in the city.
She said she was looking forward to working with the Nelsons team as it continued with its expansion strategy.
Glynis, who retrained as a lawyer when she was almost 40, founded her office in April 2011, and has grown it to a turnover of £1.2 million.
She was the 2019/20 president of the Leicestershire Law Society and was recently named fundraiser of the year at the Leicestershire Community Champion Awards.
In 2018, her Regent Road business became the first and only Leicester firm to win Law Firm of the Year in the national Law Society Excellence Awards.

She will bring a team of seven lawyers and one soon-to-be qualified solicitor, who between them specialise in all aspects of private family law cases, many of which are high value, including complex financial settlements.
The team at Nelsons, a top 200 law firm with its Leicester office in New Walk, said the acquisition would support its vision to become the “strongest and biggest family law department in the East Midlands”.

Nelsons, which also has offices in Nottingham and Derby, employs more than 190 people.
The Leicester office employs 25 people, including seven partners and 13 additional fee earners.
In the year to May 2019 the business grew after-tax profits by a quarter to £3.6 million, while turnover grew from £15.9 million to £17.2 million.
