GG Glass creates new team of staff from collapsed rival and glazing contractor FGS

Jobs have been saved following FGS going into administration earlier this month

A national commercial glazing contractor has taken on an entire new team, saving jobs that would have been lost following a rival firm's collapse.

GG Glass has announced the formation of a new special projects team, a brand new division that will form part of the wider group.

The group of eight has been appointed directly from Rotherham-based glazing contractor FGS, which went into administration earlier this month - news that put 200 jobs at risk.

Liverpool-based GG Glass will now take on the team of eight, to focus on high-level, complex and bespoke work carried out by the group across the country.

Sam Grant, operations director, said: “The work delivered by the GG Glass team sits quite separately from the rest of the business and undoubtedly fills a clear gap in the market.

"Special projects will offer bespoke works, often requiring prefabricated units, specialist access equipment and a very specific skill set.

“The team we have appointed have already established a sound business model that was in its very early infancy before the collapse of FGS. For us, taking on the team and establishing our own division made huge sense.

"Not only are we adding an important service stream to our business but we have the opportunity to take on a highly skilled and experienced group of people whilst strengthening our own team and the wider business.”
