The business world is not just changing - it has already changed and I'm afraid to say the time really has come to remove your head from the sand.
It was not that long ago business owners were still proclaiming this 'internet thing' would never catch on. If you hear anyone utter anything similar today, you should call the nearest doctor.

It doesn't matter what sector you are in – the opportunities digital offers are massive and growing every day whether it is how you sell your products and services or how you actually run your business itself.
The facts are there has been a seismic shift in how people consume their information and this has had a major impact on their buying habits, be that general consumers or other businesses.
To put this into context, last year the equivalent of two thirds of the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ adult population accessed the internet on any given day, three times the number compared to 2006 and more than double the number from 2010.
In terms of how they were accessing the internet, more than half of all use now comes through smartphones.
The bottom line is people are using digital to find out about your business so your presence online really matters because if they are not looking at you, they are looking at somebody else.

Establishing a strong digital presence is crucial but it's not just about bombarding the internet with sales messages - digital marketing is about building and maintaining a community, creating a positive brand that is supported by social media, adverts, emails and your own website.
This isn't about abandoning everything you thought you knew about traditional marketing, the key is a strong holistic approach where developing likes on your Facebook page works hand in hand with the flyers you hand out at a conference.
All of this doesn't need to cost the Earth either - in fact, as it's all digital (the hint being in the name), campaigns can be much more targeted right down to the age, gender, location and interests of the consumer.
Digital is no longer a dirty word and in fact business across all sectors are embracing it. The question is, are you? Time to get working on that strategy.
