Post People: Journalists' Charity welcomes Sky stalwart to lunch
Fundraiser makes a welcome return to Birmingham's social scene after hiatus due to covid-19 pandemic

Supporters of The Journalists' Charity gathered at Edgbaston Golf Club in Birmingham for a fundraising lunch.
Guest of honour was Sky News crime reporter Martin Brunt who joined former ITV stalwart Bob Warman on stage to regale guests with his tales of courtroom drama and rubbing shoulders with gangsters during his 35-year career.
His work has seen him cover a host of high-profile stories and cases including Fred and Rosemary West, the killing of Jill Dando and the discovery of a plot to kidnap Linda McCartney.
It was a welcome return to the city's social scene for the lunch which was held for the first time since before the Covid-19 pandemic.
Former PR and Journalists' Charity supporter Lois Burley persuaded Martin to take up the offer of being guest speaker.
She said: "It was quite a coup that we persuaded him to come to Birmingham. A wonderful, witty and self-deprecating speech. He is the doyen of crime correspondents and a legendary figure in the industry. His talk was both riveting and revealing."
The Journalists' Charity was founded by Charles Dickens in 1864 to help journalists and their dependants going through tough times and offers advice, emergency support and financial assistance.
