48 pictures as the North East Business Awards celebrates the region's best companies

The event at Hardwick Hall in County Durham saw businesses from around the region competing for 10 separate awards

The North East Business Awards have taken place for the 24th time to celebrate the best of the region's companies.

Tyneside robotics firm Wootzano was named North East Business of the Year, while prizes were also won by companies including Noggin HQ, Big Bite, Lucy Pittaway Ltd and Pacifica. There was also an Outstanding Achievement award for Helen Golightly, the former chief executive of the North East LEP.

Hundreds of businesses had entered this year’s event, with winners from three parts of the region - Tyneside and Northumberland; County Durham, Sunderland and South Tyneside; and Teesside - competing in 10 categories.
