Fresh plans have been put forward to demolish a former Derby pub which had been trading for more than 70 years and build

New proposals have been lodged with Derby City Council to knock down The County Hotel, in Sinfin Lane, Sinfin, and build an MOT testing station in its place after the authority rejected a previous application earlier this year.

The city council rejected the previous scheme because of the “bland” and “functional” design of the proposed garage buildings, adding that they would not be an improvement on what was already on the development site.

The pub was built in 1947. However, it shut in September, 2018, after being run on behalf of its owners by a management company.

The property was then marketed by Fleurets but with no-one wanting to take on the pub as a going concern, a company called 8B (º£½ÇÊÓƵ) Limited bought the building with the intention of finding an alternative use for it.

Newly lodged planning documents still show that the proposed garage would feature a four-bay car repair workshop with a first floor mezzanine storage area.

But in response to the council's decision earlier this year, the plans have been altered to include a new commercial unit, which could support a community-based business.

The plans, submitted to the city council by Paul Gaughan Building Consultants, on behalf of 8B (º£½ÇÊÓƵ) Limited, said: "The building will produce the facility for a community-based business.
