Four North East businesses have been recognised among the º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s top 100 employers.

The Sunday Times publishes its lists of the Best Companies to Work For every year, with separate rankings for large, mid-sized companies, SMEs and not-for-profit organisations.

The lists are put together by employee engagement specialists Best Companies, which surveys an organisation’s workforce to examine the ins-and-outs of company life.

The 100 Best Companies to Work for 2020 features three businesses from the region – Hays Travel, which last year took over all of the º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s Thomas Cook shops, energy consultancy Utility Alliance, and training organisation Learning Curve.

NCFE has also been named as one of the best not-for profit organisations.

Hays Travel managing director John Hays said: “I am absolutely delighted that we have been named as one of the Sunday Times’ Best Companies to Work For in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ. The company would be nothing without its amazing team, so I am thrilled that we are recognised as having a happy and motivated workforce.”

Helen Liddle, Hays Travel’s head of human resources, said: “Our people are the drivers of the business and this recognition shows that they are both motivated and highly engaged.

“We work hard to make happy, healthy environments for our people to work in and we value our employees’ feedback, investing in their ideas to make the workplace an even better place to be.
