Respected Hull business figure Stephen Martin has received an OBE in the 2020 New Year’s Honours list.
The former Arco joint managing director, who remains a non-executive director at the safety equipment firm, received the title for his services to business and the community of Hull and East Yorkshire.
Mr Martin, a graduate of Cambridge University, first joined his older brother Tom Martin at safety equipment supplier Arco in 1965 as finance director.
In 2003, he retired as joint managing director and passed the baton onto the next generation of the Martin family.
He remains to this day a non-executive vice chairman. Mr Martin is also well-known for his work with Hymers College, Nuffield hospitals and the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.
Stephen and his brother Tom were the third generation of the Martin family to own and run Arco.
Arco is one of Hull’s best-known and oldest names in business.
First established in 1893 in the city, Arco has grown to become the 海角视频’s leading provider of safety equipment.

With ambitious plans to increase turnover to £500m, Arco has had a busy year in Hull in 2019.
Work was completed recently on the business’ new £25m National Distribution Centre in Hessle.
Elsewhere, construction got underway at the site of Arco’s new headquarters in Hull’s Fruit Market.
The project – the largest development of its kind in the city for over half a century – will eventually see over 500 Arco staff move into the new, five-storey complex.
The site, in Blackfriargate, will also house a 350-space multi-storey car park, supporting both Arco and the wider Fruit Market area of Hull.
David Evison, managing director at Arco, said: “This is a significant step forward for Arco, as we continue to invest in the growth of the business. The new head office will provide us with the facilities and the work environment to meet our needs into the future.
“We’re particularly pleased that our new head office will support the regeneration of Hull’s Fruit Market, to ensure the city remains vibrant and commercially successful.

Today, Arco is led by chairman Thomas Martin.
Son of Stephen’s brother Tom, it was announced when he took up the role in 2017 that Thomas would be supported by the pair.
Outside of his work at Arco, Stephen Martin is also well-known and respected for his work with Hymers College in Hull, and Nuffield hospitals.
He has also worked during his career with the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, and has been the president of the Hull Literary and Philosophy Society.
In 2006, Stephen and his brother Tom received the Lifetime Contribution Award at the Hull Daily Mail Business Awards.
Tom Martin collected the award on behalf of himself and Stephen, and said at the time: “This is a great honour for us, which we did not expect.
“It makes us both terribly proud to be part of this fantastic city. Thank you.”
