Firms urged to apply for £5k Covid-19 grant before scheme expires

Software company and business support network partner to offer cash but only for a limited time in the south of England

Some SMEs in the South West may be eligible for a small grant

Small businesses in the South West and South East will be able to apply for a grant of £5,000 as part of a new initiative launched in the south of England to help firms recover from the coronavirus lockdown.

The new Small Business Grants programme is part of a partnership between software company Salesforce and small business support network Enterprise Nation. The applications for the grants are only open until midnight on Sunday, June 21. They will then move onto Scotland.

The idea behind the grants is to help enterprises get back to business during the Covid-19 crisis.The grant application process is being staggered. Following the South of England, it will continue onto Scotland, from 29 June 29 to July 5; Wales, from July 13 to 19; and gthe North of England, from July 27 July to August 2.

To be eligible, firms must be registered at Companies House and have been established for at least 12 months. They must not have received any other cash grant during 2020 in relation to Covid-19 from any government but must be based in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ with a British bank account

The scheme is only open to small firms with between two and 50 employees. There are other eligibility requirements stated in the grant programme terms which can be viewed .

The scheme’s judges are Bash Styleutions, founder of Styleutions; Ben Gateley founder of Charlie HR; Dave White founder of White Bruce; and Mel Bound, founder of This Mum Runs.
