A boozy marmalade brand created in the North East is gearing up for strong Christmas sales after appearing on a TV Christmas special.

Fat Lass Preserves was created by Newcastle entrepreneur Bridget Deane who has concocted a variety of marmalades and chutneys using gin, orange liqueur, and even brown ale.

The company has proved a success with foodies and last week made an appearance on Channel 4 show Buy it Now for Christmas.

The show, hosted by Rylan Clark-Neal, sees entrepreneurs pitch their products to an audience of shoppers.

They are then given feedback from a panel of retail judges, such as Amazon, JML, and Lakeland.

Fat Lass Preserves proved a hit on the show and led Lakeland to place a big order for the company’s marmalades. The product have now arrived on shelves at the kitchenware chain, just in time for the festive season.

The marmalade is made in small batches of 20 to make sure it keeps its high quality and is designed to be used in cocktails.

Ms Deane’s signature cocktail is the “Fat Lass Tickle”, which uses Fat Lass Gin Marmalade, gin, sugar syrup, lemon and prosecco.
