Acquisitive Tyneside fire safety and security tech business ABCA Systems has acquired its fifth company in 12 months.

ABCA Systems, which is based at Cobalt Business Park, has bought North London-based Raam Construction, in an undisclosed deal. The established Enfield firm offers passive fire protection, general building works, maintenance and repairs and refurbishment works to clients in social housing, education, local government and healthcare.

It follows a string of North West deals last year which saw ABCA snap up Southport’s Maintec, Blackburn’s AGS Tech, Wigan’s HBS Fabrication Northwest and Prescot-based Citrus Group. ABCA bosses said the addition of Raam boosted the group's reach in the south of England.

Phillip Miller, group CEO of ABCA Systems, said: "Raam has built a solid reputation for delivering high-quality, dependable services to a wide range of clients. Their values and approach align closely with ours, and we’re excited to welcome the Raam team into the ABCA family. This acquisition enhances our ability to deliver end-to-end solutions across fire protection, building services, and maintenance, and demonstrates our commitment to continued growth through strategic partnerships."

Raam Construction will operate under the ABCA Systems umbrella, with its team of more than 30 remaining in place. Marcin Kolodziejczyk, managing director of Raam, said: "We are proud of the business we’ve built over the last 19 years and the trust we’ve earned from our clients. Joining ABCA Systems marks an exciting new chapter for Raam. Their support, scale, and shared values will allow us to grow further, enhance our service offering, and continue delivering the high standards our clients expect. We’re thrilled to be part of this ambitious and forward-thinking group.”

Accounts for ABCA's parent company, covering the year to the end of September in which three of the five acquisitions occurred, show turnover of more than £41m and operating profits of £3.1m. Bosses of the 267-strong group said the deals had sped up growth plans and that they hoped to keep the business agile while delivering profit growth in the years ahead.

Phil Batson, managing director of ABCA Systems, added: "This move represents another step forward in our mission to offer fully integrated, expert-led services to our clients. Raam’s strengths complement our own, and together, we’re well-positioned to provide even greater value to the sectors we serve. We look forward to working closely with the Raamteam as we drive forward our shared vision for quality and growth.”
