Leading kitchen manufacturer and retailer Sigma 3 Kitchens is celebrating half a century in business with a £20m expansion tripling its production capacity.
The family-run business, founded in Barry by its chairman Brian Lakin in 1975, is investing in a new manufacturing facility in Bridgend, while maintaining its existing production operation in Llantrisant.
The business also has five retail venues across South Wales, as well as one in Surrey. Its Masterclass Kitchens brand supplies independent kitchen retailers nationwide. The company also serves trade professionals and developers through its dedicated divisions.
The ongoing £20m investment project will see its new factory, on the Kingsway Industrial Estate in Bridgend, becoming fully operational by the end of next month. Its existing Llantrisant factory is also undergoing renovation and an extension. The investment will triple its production capacity with a combined manufacturing space of 200,000 sq ft.

Supported by a team of over 230 staff, the expansion will enable Sigma 3 to meet increasing customer demand and continue its growth trajectory.
The £30m-plus turnover business is funding the expansion through a combination of its own funds, banking borrowing and asset finance.
Mr Lakin, chairman and founder of Sigma 3 Kitchens, said: “Celebrating 50 years in business is a proud moment for the entire Sigma 3 family. Our journey has been one of constant evolution, and our success is a testament to the hard work, passion, and dedication of our people. As we look to the future, our ongoing investment will lay the foundations for even greater achievements, allowing us to better serve our customers and maintain our position as an industry leader.”
