Former owner Aaron Nickerson added: “We are thrilled to have finally sold our business and we are excited to begin our retirement.
“Barry’s Home Bakery has been our family business since 1957, so taking the decision to sell was not one we made lightly. To that end we are immensely pleased to have sold to Penny Petroleum who I am sure will grow the business and achieve great success.”
The sale was handled by property agency Christie and Co. Director Andrew Birnie said: “I have specialised in the sale of convenience stores, newsagents, post offices, petrol stations, and more recently garden centres, for over 20 years, and so Barry’s Home Bakery presented an exciting new challenge. This is a well-run, profitable and respected business, and we worked together to market it effectively and find the right buyer.
“With the assistance of lawyers, in particular Michael Shuker and the team at Square One law, we were able to complete this transaction, and we wish the best of luck to our clients Aaron and Barry, and to Penny Petroleum in their plans for the future of the business.”
The business was sold at an undisclosed price.
