Everton suspend commercial ties with billionaire Alisher Usmanov over Russia's invasion of Ukraine

The Premier League club have suspended their deals with Russian companies USM, Megafon and Yota

Everton have suspended their commercial sponsorship arrangements with billionaire Alisher Usmanov following Russia's military invasion of Ukraine.

The Premier League club said the move, which has been made with immediate effect, concerns Russian companies USM, Megafon and Yota.

It comes after the assets of Mr Usmanov were frozen by the European Union.

The Uzbekistan-born businessman's USM Holdings providing a number of Blues sponsorship agreements.

After Russia's military invasion of Ukraine, sanctions continue to be placed on the country, with those closely tied to President Putin being the latest to be targeted by measures.

In a statement published on the club's website, they said: "Everyone at Everton remains shocked and saddened by the appalling events unfolding in Ukraine.

"This tragic situation must end as soon as possible, and any further loss of life must be avoided.
