Energy sector engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) specialist nexos has announced plans to create jobs in the Humber.
Following parent group D2Zero's acquisition of OSL Consulting Engineers last year, the 45-strong Hull office is recruiting for 14 new positions, amid a push into the onshore energy market. nexos, which also has locations in Scotland, has created a 300-strong onshore services division following what it says is a number of contract wins in the sector.
The firm has acquired additional offices in the city from which it will deliver services to energy transition projects across the region, including hydrogen production, carbon capture and storage, waste-to-energy, renewables and synthetic fuels. With existing clients such as Apache, Ithaca Energy and EnQuest, nexos says it has chosen the Hull base due to its proximity to industrial decarbonisation efforts - and has joined regional industry organisations including CATCH and Future Humber.
Derek Thomson, chief operating officer at nexos, emphasised the significance of this expansion: “Leveraging nexos’ extensive EPC expertise into the onshore market signals our intent to become a powerhouse in the energy transition. We are combining OSL’s engineering and procurement expertise with our industry-leading construction capabilities to provide exceptional value as an EPC contractor in the onshore energy market.
"By providing construction services in-house, we are offering a genuine full-service solution that many other onshore EPC contractors cannot, and a seamless project execution journey for our clients."
He added: "Many engineering firms provide only the ‘E’ and ‘P’ of EPC, relying on third-party contractors for construction. At nexos, we provide a fully integrated solution, bringing offshore engineering discipline and safety-critical experience to onshore projects.
"We’re seeing increasing demand from onshore developers looking for engineering teams with high-hazard, process-led expertise – skills that have traditionally been honed offshore. nexos is uniquely positioned to meet this need, ensuring that the º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s energy transition is built on proven experience, innovation and safety.
"We are committed to providing developers with the engineering and construction expertise required to deliver complex, scalable and future-proofed infrastructure."
