A North East supplier of charging equipment for electric vehicles has secured key partnerships with seven motor dealers as they seek to boost their smart charging investments.

County Durham-based Elmtronics specialises in electric car charging points for homes, businesses and the public sector, working with some of the º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s largest councils, NHS trusts and private companies to design, install and maintain electric vehicle charging stations.

Now Elmtronics is tapping into car dealers that are ramping up investments in smart electric charging infrastructure, to support their network.

Brands such as Vauxhall, Citroen, Peugeot, Nissan, Seat, Ford and Renault are now working with the Consett firm, winner of the high growth and ambition award at the Durham, Sunderland and South Tyneside Business Awards.

Each dealership is having a combination of Alfen 7kW to 22kW AC fast dual chargers and ABB DC rapid chargers installed, to cater for the charging requirements for all electric vehicle models.

The charging stations will all be connected to Hubsta, an intelligent network that is connected to more than 55,000 charge points worldwide.

Simon Tate, sales director for Elmtronics, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity of working with some of the best-known franchise dealers across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ. Going forward, we will be providing them with support to help them meet manufacturers’ requirements and ensure their electric vehicle charging infrastructure is in place.

“With the growing popularity of EVs combined with the fact there are more models on the market, there is now a need to ensure infrastructure is fit for the future.”
