EE switches on 5G in Stafford

It is one of 12 new areas across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ announced by EE to get 5G

EE has switched on 5G in 12 other areas of the º£½ÇÊÓƵ

Mobile network EE has switched on 5G in Stafford.

The town is one of 12 new areas across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ announced by EE to get 5G and becomes the third place in Staffordshire to receive 5G on its network, following Rugeley and Lichfield.

Other towns announced today include Aberdeen, Aldershot, Barrhead, Blackpool, Castleford, Crawley, Mirfield, Oxford, Porthcawl, Shipley and Warwick.

EE launched the º£½ÇÊÓƵ's first 5G service in May 2019 and has now expanded to 112 towns and cities across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ.

Marc Allera, CEO of BT's consumer business, said: "Delivering the best mobile experience for our customers has never been more important. Our 5G rollout continues apace, with our engineers building and upgrading new sites every day to bring the latest mobile technology to even more people in the places they need it.

"We have 5G coverage in more places than anyone in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ, and we remain focused on connecting many more areas this year and beyond."

Wendy Sycamore, BT Group regional lead for the Midlands, said: "It's great to see Stafford join Rugeley and Lichfield in being able to benefit from 5G on EE's network. The new technology will enable a faster, more reliable mobile connection, helping a range of sectors.

"We know that demands for data from consumers and businesses are continuing to increase, so the arrival of 5G in more places in Staffordshire will make sure it's ahead of the game in terms of connectivity and competitiveness."
