An eco-friendly courier company has partnered with a Newcastle health trust to help it lower its carbon footprint.

Zmove’s zero emissions delivery service helps businesses send goods around Newcastle and Gateshead using its fleet of bikes, without relying on cars and vans.

And the Newcastle firm’s bikes can use routes and river crossings often unavailable to other vehicles, picking up and drop off goods right at the door, keeping speed high and costs low.

Now the firm has now struck a partnership with Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which follows on from its pledge to become carbon neutral by 2040.

It also precedes Newcastle City  Council’s Clean Air Zone proposals.

By partnering with Zmove the NHS trust will be able to deliver goods emission-free around Newcastle.

James Dixon, head of sustainability at Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We are committed to influencing a modal shift to more active and sustainable methods of travel for our staff, patients, goods and service.

“In doing so, we will be improving local air quality, as well as meeting our climate emergency challenge by driving down carbon emissions. It’s exciting to partner with an innovative local company aligned to our core values of health and sustainability.”
