Independent Nottingham law firm Actons has promoted one of its directors to head of property.

Caroline Pearson moves into the post becomes following a ten year stint by Amanda Gordon, who continues as a director in the property team. The change is part of the firms’ succession planning ahead of the retirement of Amanda at the end of September.
Caroline qualified as a solicitor in 2001 and joined Actons in 2007, advising organisations on a range of commercial property transactions, from high-street premises to major development projects.
She said: “I’m really pleased to be taking on the role as head of property, and look forward to working with the other members of the team, continuing to develop strong relationships with our clients and helping them to achieve their goals.
“There is some great talent in the team which has continued to grow throughout the pandemic with the arrival of Sumandeep Nahl and Neelam Khaleel.
“Amanda will continue to play an instrumental part in the Property team ahead of her retirement and is definitely a hard act to follow. I’m very excited about the future.”

Actons boasts a seven-strong property team, plus support staff, covering commercial property and development work for organisations and individuals across the region, as well as high-end residential conveyancing.
Shoosmiths
Law firm Shoosmiths has revealed the new head of its Nottingham office. Michael Briggs, a partner and employment law specialist, takes on the role from Deborah Gordon-Brown who has held the post since 2015.
Michael, who joined Shoosmiths as an associate in 2013, will lead 77 staff at the firm’s Waterfront House office in Station Street and is set to oversee plans to continue growing its presence in the city and wider region.
Shoosmiths has operated in Nottingham since 1984 and has expanded into a full-service office covering real estate, corporate, business and personal advisory. It supports major brands including Travelodge, The Open University and Mountain Warehouse.

Michael’s strategic priorities include refurbishing and re-fitting the office, with the project due to take place this summer, alongside accelerating recruitment – adding to the three new staff that have already joined the firm in Nottingham in recent months.
As well as his role as partner, Michael chairs Shoosmiths’ LGBT+ Staff Network, PROUD.

Deborah is set to support Michael closely in his role as head of office, while also helping to oversee the delivery of the Nottingham office refurbishment project. She will also continue her role on the board of the Shoosmiths Foundation and the regional boards of Business in the Community and Confederation of British Industry.

BGF
海角视频 and Ireland growth capital investor BGF has strengthened its Midlands team, with the appointment of Adam Huckerby.
Adam joins BGF from Foresight Group, where he spent three years in the private equity team, investing in Midlands-based SMEs across a variety of sectors. Prior to that, he spent six years in PwC’s restructuring team in the Midlands.
At BGF, Adam will be responsible for all aspects of the investment process, from originating and executing new investments to supporting management teams of portfolio companies.
Midlands spokesman Seb Saywood said: “We’re delighted to welcome someone of Adam’s calibre to BGF.
“Our investor team plays a vital role in identifying exciting and entrepreneurial businesses, ripe for growth.
“Adam is an excellent addition to our team – someone who understands the nuances of the Midlands market and our desire to support forward-thinking companies that are eager to scale up with the support of a minority investor firmly focused on taking a patient and long-term outlook to growth.”
Recent deals led by the Midlands team include the £11 million investment in wearable technology brand, MyZone, and the multi-million pound investment into Alliance Transport Technologies (ATT).
Adam’s appointment follows the arrival of David Bellis as investor at the end of 2021, having previously worked at Alantra Corporate Finance and PwC.
Premier Logistics
Leicestershire logistics firm Premier Logistics has announced an internal promotion with Macauley Christopher becoming client relationship manager.
Macauley – the son of Premier Logistics founder and managing director Lee Christopher – started his journey cleaning trucks, working his way through the warehouse and eventually into the office.
His first leadership role will focus on communication, relationship building and process.
Premier employs 80 people and was set up in 2004.
Macauley said: “The recent accolades such as the Palletforce 100 per cent Chairman’s Award and renewing of large client contracts are testament to the team – their passion and commitment to our growth ambitions and their dedication to excellent client service.
“At Premier Logistics the most important thing for us is to ensure the right person is in the right role.

Passport365
Industry professional and co-founder of the Women in SAPCA initiative Hayley Wilson has joined Lincolnshire sports facility management software specialist, Passport365.
She comes with almost a decade of industry experience as an estimator and sales manager at a sports surface installation organisation in Nottinghamshire.
There, she was instrumental in successfully delivering a number of high-profile projects including the £17 million YMCA Newark Sports Village, part of the Football Foundation Framework scheme, and the £18 million Downhill and Ford Quarry Sports Complexes, forming part of the Parklife project scheme.
Passport365 is a facilities management software system for sports bodies.
Hayley will apply her in-depth knowledge and expertise in her new role as Passport365 data analyst, where she will support sports businesses with bespoke systems.
She said: “Having been a customer of both Passport365 and Conduiit at my former company, I saw a lot of opportunity with the business and team; seeing it as the future of sports facility management and sports construction industries.”
Bellway
Bellway’s East Midlands division, based in Leicester, has recently reappointed Steve Smith as sales director.
Steve will oversee the delivery of over 700 homes across the Midlands, in Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire.
Less than a year ago Steve, from Nottinghamshire, made the switch to another housebuilder as sales manager, following his previous five-year stint at Bellway East Midlands in the same job role. He said a customer-first approach to housebuilding at Bellway was the key factor for his return.
Steve said: “After five very happy years at Bellway I felt the time was right to move on into a new chapter of my career, so to be back less than 12 months later says an awful lot about the ethos and mindset of Bellway the company, and the employer.
“At Bellway, our approach is always ‘customer first’ and we strive continually to ensure we get things absolutely right for the people who put faith in us by buying our homes – one of the biggest commitments made by anyone during their lifetime.
“I really missed the culture at Bellway, and particularly within the East Midlands division. We have a specialism here of delivering a quality product to our customers and that’s something I’m very passionate about continuing as sales director in much the same way as I did before I left as a sales manager.”
