East Midlands music producer, top lawyer and university innovation boss recognised with 2020 New Year’s honours

Yasin El Ashrafi, Glynis Wright and Anjuu Trevedi honoured for helping young people, female entrepreneurs and innovation

Three prominent members of the Leicester business scene have been included in the 2020 Queen's News Years Honours list

Family lawyer Glynis Wright becomes an MBE as does University of Leicester business engagement head Anjuu Trevedi.

While Yasin El Ashrafi, the founder of HQ Recording Studio, in Leicester city centre, becomes a BEM for his work with young people, and for services to music.

Yasin, who was the 2018 LeicestershireLive business executive of the year, runs a recording studio and music education business in Charles Street, which has built a reputation for its work with up-and-coming urban, R&B and hip hop acts.

In 2019 he won almost £185,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund to transform the lives of more young people through music.

A year earlier he had been named Prince’s Trust Mentor of the Year.

Hearing the news of the BEM, he said: “I am honoured to be included on such a prestigious list.

“I would like to thank the team at HQ, and the National Lottery Community Fund for making these projects possible and allow is us to impact so many young people.
