Funeral home embalmers pick up qualifications, and there are changes at some of the region’s big PR firms

AW Lymn senior embalmer Olivia Cotterill Wilson and embalmer Isabel Walton

AW Lymn:

Two embalmers at AW Lymn, the fifth-generation, family run Nottingham funeral firm, have passed their British Institute of Embalming examinations. Senior embalmer Olivia Cotterill Wilson, 22, and embalmer Isabel Walton, 23, (both pictured above) have completed the three-year, nationally recognised qualification, taking the company’s total of fully qualified embalmers to 10.

The pair have spent the last three years attending classes in Shropshire, studying for their theory and practical exams. The final practical exam was held at AW Lymn’s Robin Hood House, where they successfully passed with flying colours.

Olivia said: “We were both thrilled when we passed our theory exams, they were very challenging.

“When we plucked up the courage to take our practical, and then passed, we were over the moon. It was such a relief that after four years, we passed it.”

AW Lymn is based in Sneinton, and employs more than 120 staff at 27 funeral homes across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
