Business confidence in the East Midlands remained steady in October with some firms talking about investing in their teams, evolving their offering and investing in sustainability.

Despite global economic volatility, the latest Lloyds Bank’s Business Barometer for the region suggested a higher percentage of companies compared to September had confidence in their business prospects with many hoping to take on more staff.

The survey, which questions 1,200 businesses, provides early signals about º£½ÇÊÓƵ economic trends both regionally and nationwide.

Dave Atkinson, regional director for the East Midlands at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, said: “It’s encouraging to see confidence among East Midlands businesses hold firm during October.

“It’s particularly pleasing that, even in a challenging environment, firms are planning to invest in their people and in sustainability measures as they target growth.

“To help them with their green ambitions, we offer discounted lending to support investment in sustainability through our Clean Growth Financing Initiative.

“At times like this, it’s also crucial that the region’s businesses remain focused on managing cashflow so that they can make the most of any growth opportunities that come their way.

“We’ll remain firmly by their side to help provide the financial guidance and tools they need to succeed.”
