Developer vows to remain in private hands as it aims to build 1,800 homes a year

A property group has vowed to remain in private hands and build 1,800 homes a year by 2026.

Wain Group has outlined a series of goals for each of its divisions as it marks 50 years in business.

The Warrington-headquartered company was founded in 1972 and includes Wain Homes and Wain Estates.

In newly-filed accounts with Companies House, the group also said it wants Wain Estates to be one of the largest private land and property companies in the country.

The documents also reveal that the group's turnover increased from £259.2m to £276.5m in the 12 months to October 3, 2021, while its pre-tax profits jumped from £33.4m to £53.3m.

Wain Homes operates in the North West, South West and the Severn Valley and in the last financial year completed 1,102 homes.

Chairman Will Ainscough said: "The group has performed exceptionally well over the 53-week period.
