A Derbyshire firm which “grows” furniture is looking to break into the Far East market by exhibiting at a major trade show.

Full Grown, which grows trees into the shape of a range of furniture items, is this week exhibiting as part of the º£½ÇÊÓƵ Garden at the Beijing Expo 2019, in China.

Founded in 2012, the business shapes and grafts bespoke, sustainable furniture from trees growing in a woodland near Wirksworth. Today, its product range includes chairs, lamps, tables and sculptures.

The firm began selling items in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ but pretty soon, founders Gavin and Alice Munro, realised their furniture had strong appeal beyond British shores.

Working with the Department for International Trade, the company now exports to 10 countries, including France, Germany and Norway, as well as locations further afield such as Hong Kong and the US.

Now, the business is looking to break into the Chinese market - and will be exhibiting at the expo, which attracts hundreds of thousands of people from across China, until Friday.

Mr Munro said: “We were introduced to the Beijing Expo 2019 through a DIT reception with Liam Fox at Lancaster House in December.

“We have since been discussing exhibiting our products at the expo for some time and DIT are kindly supporting our appearance at the expo.
