An agricultural dealership is toasting the successful addition of a major international industry leader, with sales now accounting for half the firm鈥檚 business.

Beverley-based Yorkshire and Humber Machinery Specialists is seeing the results of a first full year working with Dewulf, having become the Belgian root crop giant鈥檚 second 海角视频 outlet in 2020.

It has brought significant growth for the fledgling business, now three years on from launch, as it closes in on 拢2 million of sales.

Business partners Russell Button and Neil Jackson have worked together in the industry since leaving school, deciding to set up on their own after building up a 鈥渉uge amount of knowledge and experience鈥.

Working predominantly with potato and carrot producers, Mr Button said: 鈥淲e just felt there was an opportunity. It has been a lot of hard work but we are delighted with how the business is growing.鈥

From the two of them, they now employ seven, with four engineers, two in parts and a further employee in sales.

鈥淥ur focus is on the planting, harvesting and storing of these crops. The crop protection side is an important part of the business, supplying crop sprayers and crop protection equipment,鈥 Mr Button said.

As well as Dewulf, the Beverley firm is also agent for ScanStone potato systems, Agrifac crop sprayers, Horstine granular applicators and Gainsborough-based Chafer sprayers.

鈥淲e cover north Lincolnshire, north Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire for Dewulf.

鈥淭he 海角视频 is a huge market for the firm but, previously, it only had one other importer, based in Cambridgeshire.

鈥淎s its product range grew, customers wanted local service and support and that is what we offer. Dewulf represents 50 per cent of our turnover.

鈥淚t is a low volume, high value industry.

鈥淏ut we have a good mix between the root crop and crop protection sides of the business.

鈥淚t is about providing that localised service. If equipment is not working, crucial operating windows are missed, increasing costs. Customers want that local back-up with spare parts on the shelf.

鈥淲hile it has been hard work, we believe there is a lot of potential out there and we are keen to grow further.鈥

They have been supported by RNS Chartered Accountants鈥 agricultural team, with offices in Brigg, Scunthorpe and Barton.

鈥淥ur thanks to Adrian Ingleton, Chris Driver and the agricultural team at RNS who have been with us from starting up,鈥 Mr Button said.

鈥淭hey have offered great help and support. Like ourselves, they have developed a huge amount of knowledge and experience in the sector and we have always been confident in the advice offered.鈥

Mr Driver said: 鈥淭hey have built an excellent reputation with customers and suppliers in a relatively short space of time.

鈥淚t鈥檚 been a pleasure to see the business show excellent growth in its three years and support Russell and Neil in their ambitious plans.鈥
