Wavey Ice, which also produces-ready-to-drink cocktails, said it will use the money to invest in product development

A County Down alcoholic ice pop business has raised more than £500,000 through a crowd funding campaign in just over a day.

Wavey Ice has pooled the backing from some 79 investors and expects to hit £600,000 by next week on the funding platform Seedrs.

It makes ready-to-drink alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails and frozen alcoholic ice pops and said it will use the money to invest in product development and brand awareness.

Laura Davis, managing director and head of production at Wavey Ice, welcomed the funding.

“We’re over-the-moon to have smashed our crowdfunding target so quickly,” she said. “This overwhelming support demonstrates what we already knew that our playful, nostalgic ice Pops and RTD cocktails are a smash with consumers.”

The company was launched in London in 2014, initially producing alcoholic ice pops before being acquired in 2022. It is now based in Hillsborough and is run by Laura and a team of four.

It has since expanded its range to cocktails, she said.

“We’ve invested in NPD (new product development) and developed Sips, ready-to-drink alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, which have been massively popular and stand-out sellers. Our crowdfunding campaign will help us bring our vibrant products to new markets and make waves in the industry.”
